Frequently Asked Question
Use this when the section should be filled with activities and you do not want a unit plan or a lesson plan. It is the Design a set of activities card on Design this section. You can also open it later from Add content → Set of activities.
The wizard title is Design a set of activities. A notice names the section and says you will return to the Design Hub when you finish. The steps are Approach, Generate, and Review.
Approach
The question is How should AIM design these activities? This is a packing approach, not a unit or lesson methodology. The built-in approaches are:
- Describe this section — you tell AIM how to organize the activities.
- Course introduction — welcome, orientation, ice-breaker, and how the course works. Use this when the heading is the start of the course.
- Inquiry-based — questions, discussion, and investigation.
- Problem-based — the activities work through a problem.
- Project-based — the activities build toward a task or product.
Your site may show these in a different order, or with extra approaches an administrator has added.
Generate
- Design these activities using a prompt — say what students should do. If you already chose an approach other than Describe this section, the prompt is optional extra guidance.
- Design these activities using a source file — a worksheet, reading, or existing activity list. Accepted formats are PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), TXT, and Markdown.
Describe this section requires a prompt or a file before you can continue. Select Next to generate. Choose a different approach returns you to the first step.
Review
Check the proposed activities, then approve them. AIM adds them to the section and returns you to the Design Hub. If the work is queued, the hub tells you the activities will appear in the course shortly.
The section stays on the activities path. New activities are drafts until you publish the section or the individual activity.
